Noah Drew

communication + voice teacher

communicationvoice

In my work as a voice and acting teacher, I’m guided by a deep curiosity about how our humanity can be more fully revealed in the sounds we make. I’m a Certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework® (I was one of Canada’s first), having studied intensively for over  ten years with founder Catherine Fitzmaurice and nearly all of the other Master Teachers of this work.

I have also trained in a broad range of voice techniques including: Linklater, Lessac, Roy Hart, Grotowski/Barba, Knight-Thompson Speechwork, the Suzuki Method for Actor Training, and classical singing. I’m a graduate of the MFA Acting program at Temple University in Philadelphia (with an Emphasis in Voice and Speech). My voice and acting students and clients range from beginners to recognizable Hollywood actors, world-touring rock musicians, and opera singers who perform regularly on stages like the Met in New York.

What clients say

Noah approaches the work with utmost honesty and professionalism, and in turn brings that out in his students. He simply helps you let go. He helps you connect body and mind — to speak or sing from the centre of your self.

Dan Mangan

Rock musician, Vancouver

Over several decades of a life in the theatre, I’ve been lucky enough to work with great voice teachers – Patsy Rodenburg, Cicely Berry, Kristin Linklater, Richard Armstrong and Enrique Pardo, among others – and now I’m happy to add Noah Drew. Noah is knowledgeable, passionate, kind and inspiring. Many of the techniques were new to me, and he taught them with patience, thoroughness and a lively sense of fun, always creating a safe atmosphere that allowed all of us to take risks. I loved it.

The work we have done has made a night and day difference in my acting process, auditions, and even my presence in everyday situations. This work is necessary and Noah is the ideal instructor.
